Biography

Colin is the Fabrication Shop Technical Support Specialist at ACE, specializing in machining, fabrication and the development of custom-built solutions that support client testing and research activities. He plays a key role in ensuring the fabrication shop operates efficiently and delivers high-quality, precision-built components for a wide range of projects. 

In his role, Colin: 

  • Oversees daily operations of the fabrication and machining shop to ensure efficient workflow and safety compliance.  
  • Supports engineers and clients in the design and development of custom fixtures, prototypes and test components.  
  • Maintains and operates advanced machining and fabrication equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.  
  • Translates project requirements into precise, manufacturable solutions with a strong focus on accuracy and functionality.  
  • Ensures all fabricated components meet strict quality and technical standards for testing applications.  
  • Provides hands-on technical expertise to support rapid prototyping and iterative design improvements. 

Colin brings over 15 years of experience in machining, fabrication and tool making. Prior to joining ACE, he worked as a journeyman mould maker (431A), specializing in precision tooling and automation systems. 

He holds a diploma in Mechanical Technology – Precision Skills, which further strengthens his technical and manufacturing expertise. His combination of hands-on experience, craftsmanship and problem-solving ability makes him a key contributor to ACE’s fabrication and development capabilities.
