Advanced Measurement Capabilities

Through our partnership with LaVision, we have access to state-of-the-art optical measurement systems that enhance our testing capabilities. Adding LaVision's expertise in aerodynamics, fluid dynamics, and solid mechanics allows us to explore complex testing scenarios that go beyond our typical setups, ensuring we can meet the specific needs of our clients.
Our Measurement Technologies
Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV):
- Used to measure aerodynamic flow fields with precision, PIV captures high-resolution velocity data that helps in understanding complex fluid dynamics. This technology is particularly beneficial when integrated with our Climatic Aerodynamic Wind Tunnel.
Laser Sheet Imaging (LSI):
- Ideal for characterizing spray geometry, LSI is essential for understanding full scale fluid spray dynamics, including nozzle atomization patterns. LSI provides a comprehensive analysis of precipitation cloud coverage for both dynamic and static testing applications within the Climatic Aerodynamic Wind Tunnel and our other environmental chambers.
Particle Flow Distributions and Statistics:
- ACE employs particle flow measurements to gather statistics on particle behaviour in various fluid dynamic scenarios, crucial for developing comprehensive models and optimizing performance.
Digital Image Correlation (DIC)*:
- DIC measures deformation and strain in materials, aiding analysis in setups like the Climatic Aerodynamic Wind Tunnel and Multi-Axis Shaker Table. DIC enables us to conduct advanced material testing and structural analysis, providing deeper insights into material behaviour under various conditions and enhancing result precision.
Background Oriented Schlieren (BOS)*:
- BOS is an advanced optical technique used to measure hydrogen leakage and visualize thermal flows, making it invaluable for studying gas flows and heat transfer. This method is applied in all our climatic chambers, including the Large Climatic Chamber.
